Clarissa Rivas | Youth Leadership Coordinator
Clarissa is coming to EOBHC after almost three years at LeaderSpring managing multiple projects for their two year Fellowship program for nonprofit executive directors in the Bay Area. Prior to that, she was a National Teaching Fellow with Citizen Schools in the Greater Boston Area, serving as both an after-school educator and Regional Citizen Teacher Lead responsible for managing, developing and facilitating training for Citizen Teacher Leads. Her passion has always been to work and engage with youth. As someone who has spent the majority of her life escaping violence and abuse, both external and self-imposed – much of which she experienced as a teenager and young adult – she has committed herself to cultivating resilience and personal power within herself and others, including the youth she works with. Clarissa will provide facilitative leadership so that EOBHC youth are authentically engaged and leading; especially managing EOBHC youth groups ensuring the responsive and supportive learning appropriate for their development, capacity and advocacy. A Xicana raised in deep South Texas and graduating from Tufts University, Clarissa is proud to call Oakland home where she is a mentor for the East Bay College Fund, practices Capoeira, and loves to laugh and write poetry.
